Homecoming

What could be more nostalgic than going back to your high school to reunite with your schoolmates and teachers?

January 5, 2008. My high school class ("batch" as we would say it) celebrated its Silver Jubilee. We hosted the Grand Alumni Homecoming with a sumptuous dinner buffet, roast calf, lots of wine, coffee, and chismis :) Of course, being the showbiz Paulinians that we are, we welcomed the night with a lot of Magic...

We were freshmen back in 1980 when our senior sisters performed this number. I first saw it onstage in our Little Theatre. Aliw, galing naman. It introduced me to Pippin, to Broadway, and all those musicals from where we got our Songfest pieces. Magic to Do for me was the ultimate "pampagana". So when we were planning our Homecoming, I can't help suggesting this for our Opening number. It's not as explosive and show-stopping as other Broadway openings, but it has this simple, magnetic, hypnotic feel and appeal.

Ehh...kaso di ko yata na-block ng maayos ang sarili ko kasi na-"block" ako ng iba sa video hehe. Sumisilip-silip lang ang byuti ko sa ibang frames. I wore a pink vintage dress owned by my mommy back in the early 70s. Here is the only photo I have, thanks to my batchmate Gigi Valencia-Lim :)

Dessie and I (wearing a wig). Katakot ba? :)
